UI, Create Button Functions Are Still Mysteries One Month Before Launch

KEY POINTS

  • Prospective PS5 buyers remain intrigued over the UI and create button
  • Despite allowing people to demo games, Sony has yet to reveal these DualSense functions
  • It remains uncertain if Sony will clear these up before the console launches on Nov. 12

Despite the PlayStation 5 console launch rapidly approaching, Sony is still keeping certain aspects of its DualSense controller a mystery.

During a recent preview event, both the console’s menus and the new controller button were purposely made inaccessible to players who had the opportunity to try the new system, Screen Rant noted.

The Verge reported that some members of the Japanese media and influencers were given early access to the PS5 at an event and were allowed to play some games on the console. Footage from “Astro’s Playroom,” “Godfall” and some other games were posted online, but attendees were not given access to the unit’s user interface.

Arlo Introduces Pro 4 Security Camera With Easier Wi-Fi Setup, But Lacks HomeKit at Launch [Updated]

Accessory maker Arlo today introduced the Pro 4, a new version of its security camera that connects directly to Wi-Fi for easier setup as a standalone security solution, eliminating the need for a separate base station.

Like its Pro 3 predecessor, the Pro 4 features 2K video resolution with HDR, a 160-degree viewing angle, an integrated spotlight and siren, color night vision, two-way audio, and a wire-free, weather-resistant design. A removable, rechargeable battery continues to provide up to six months of battery life per charge.

Unfortunately, the Pro 4 is not compatible with HomeKit at launch, according to the Arlo website. The Pro 3 gained HomeKit support five months after it launched, so it is possible that the Pro 4 will receive HomeKit in a future software update. We’ve reached out to Arlo for comment on their HomeKit plans and we’ll update this story if we hear back.

One Of The PS5’s Biggest Features Won’t Work With Your TV At Launch

Since Mark Cerny’s “Road to PS5” briefing during GDC earlier this year, Sony has marketed its own proprietary audio innovations that will be included with the PlayStation 5. It’s broken down into two separate audio modes that work with either a headset or your TVs speaker, but only one will be ready for launch next month.

In a new blog post, Sony details some of the compatibility features of its new Tempest 3D Audio engine, which will be able to turn any headset into 3D Audio capable cans with games that support it. Sony mentions that its Pulse 3D wireless headset is one of the best ways to experience this on PS5, but stresses that all other headsets connected either via USB or the 3.5mm jack on the DualSense controller will be supported too.

Games will need to support 3D audio too, with Sony listing exclusives such as Spider-Man: Miles

Watching This Falcon 9 Launch Is Like Riding a Rocket as You Would a Horse

Imagine Baron Munchausen riding a cannonball. Replace the cannonball with something that is longer, like say a rocket. Then scroll further down this page and watch the video you find there. This is exactly how one of the world’s biggest liars would have felt doing that.

SpaceX, Elon Musk’s company in charge with dreaming about humanity’s future away from this planet, has gotten us used to incredible feats. First, there was the reusable rocket booster, which took off and then landed either on pads or on funky named drone ships in the middle of the Ocean.

Then, we had a red car sent to space, for future generations or alien civilizations to find and wonder “what the hell is it?” And, more recently, we started seeing space launches from entirely new angles.

The video below shows the launch of a Falcon 9 rocket during the late August SAOCOM 1B mission.

This rocket carrying a GPS satellite for the US Space Force is still waiting to launch.

SpaceX

A September full of suffering for space fans now seems to be bleeding over into October as a long series of launch delays continues with Monday’s scrub of a planned SpaceX Starlink mission

This marks the fifth time the launch has been pushed back in the past three weeks, and it comes just three days after SpaceX had to stand down once again from launching a GPS satellite for the US Space Force on Friday. That mission has also been postponed now a total of four times in the past week.

The delays aren’t only affecting SpaceX. A United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket was set to lift a new US spy satellite into orbit Aug.

Apple is rumored to be readying its own over-the-year headphones.

Óscar Gutiérrez/CNET

Apple has stopped selling headphones and wireless speakers from third-party makers ahead of the expected launch of new Apple audio products, Bloomberg noted Monday.

Apple has long carried headphones and speakers from rivals such as Sonos, Bose and Logitech, but those products disappeared from the company’s website at the end of September, and employees at the Apple ‘s retail locations were instructed to remove the products from store shelves, Bloomberg reported.

Apple is reportedly working on several versions of over-ear headphones, including a fitness-oriented model and one with premium leather-like finishes. There was speculation that the headphones may have interchangeable components too, like being able to switch out ear cups.

One long-rumored device that could make its
