Apple expected to unveil 5G-capable iPhone 12 at event Tuesday

Oct. 13 (UPI) — Apple is expected to announce its first 5G-compatible iPhone during a highly anticipated digital event on Tuesday.

The company has teased the event with the tagline “Hi, Speed” ahead of the event, scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT.

The announcement is expected to come in a pre-recorded video from Apple Park featuring CEO Tim Cook and other executives providing a look at the company’s latest smartphone lineup.

The new device, which would be the iPhone 12, is expected to come in four different models with display sizes ranging from 5.4 inches to 6.7 inches. The retail cost is rumored to begin at $700 and rise to $1,100 for the top-end model.

Apple is also rumored to be developing two new wireless chargers that could release alongside the new phones, after the company canceled its AirPower charger last year.

Amazon, Rivian unveil first custom electric delivery vehicle

  • Amazon unveiled the first of its three custom electric delivery vehicles made by Michigan-based Rivian on Thursday morning.
  • The vans would hit the road in 2021, it said, and can last up to 150 miles on a single charge.
  • The vehicles are Alexa-integrated, and have multiple exterior cameras to give the driver a 360-degree view of their surroundings.
  • The custom vans also include a “dancefloor” inside the driver’s cabin, Amazon added — likely referring to the open space where the driver can move around.
  • Amazon aims to have 10,000 of these vans in operation as early as 2022, and 100,000 by 2030.

Apple (AAPL) Set to Unveil iPhone 5G at Oct 13 Virtual Event

Apple AAPL is set to host an online event on Oct 13 where it is reportedly set to unveil new iPhones, including those supporting 5G.

Markedly, Apple guided during its third-quarter fiscal 2020 earnings call that sale of new iPhones will begin a few weeks later against the usual late-September release attributed to supply-chain issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Apple has been speculated to launch four new iPhone models that include two cheaper iPhone 12 models at 5.4 inches and 6.1 inches, and two iPhone 12 Pro models with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens. Apple Sets Oct. 13 Online Event, Could Unveil New iPhone

Apple  (AAPL) – Get Report said it would hold an online event on Oct. 13, and industry watchers expect the tech company to unveil the latest iterations of its ubiquitous iPhone.

Four models of the iPhone 12 are expected to be announced at the event, according to Apple Insider. The iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are all expected to debut. 

The new iPhone is expected to be 5G-enabled. The models would arrive just a month after Apple’s September event, where it introduced new hardware and subscription bundles. 

The standard models are expected to have 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch OLED displays, while the Pro versions are expected to have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch versions. 

The standard models will have two 12-megapixel cameras, according to Apple Insider, while the pro model adds a third camera on the back for telephoto shooting.
